The TCP Implant Marathon is more than just an implant training course – it’s a pioneering program that has set the standard for hands-on dental implant education worldwide. Founded in 2003 by Trinon Collegium Practicum (TCP) in collaboration with a German implant manufacturer, Trinon Titanium GmbH, our program was built on the principle of “learning by doing.” From the very beginning, the goal was to provide dentists with real surgical experience in implantology that traditional lectures or model-based courses simply couldn’t offer.

Over the past 22 years, TCP Implant Marathon has grown into the longest-running live implant course in the world. We have held more than 200 intensive implant courses across the globe, training over 3,800 dentists from dozens of countries. In that time, participants in our programs have placed over 130,000 dental implants in patients – a testament to both the scale of our training and the positive impact on oral health for thousands of individuals.

Our Mission and Philosophy

Our mission is simple: to empower general dentists and specialists to confidently provide implant treatments through immersive, hands-on education. Traditional dental curricula often lack sufficient surgical implant training, leaving many clinicians feeling unprepared to place implants independently. TCP Implant Marathon was created to bridge that gap. We believe that the best way to learn implant dentistry is by performing implant dentistry – under expert guidance and in a real clinical setting.

“Learning by doing” is the core philosophy that drives all our implant courses. Instead of hours of passive lectures, our program puts instruments in your hands from day one. Every participant, regardless of prior experience, gets the opportunity to perform implant surgeries on actual patients in need. This practical approach accelerates learning and builds true competence. By the end of each course, attendees have not only absorbed implant theory in context, but also practiced it extensively, ensuring they can translate new skills directly into their own practice.
Equally important to our educational mission is our commitment to patient care and community service.

All implant procedures performed during the course benefit local patients – typically low-income individuals who receive this treatment at little or no cost. This model creates a win-win scenario: dentists gain experience with real cases while patients gain access to life-changing implant treatments they might otherwise not afford. It’s a socially responsible training approach that has provided tens of thousands of implants to underserved populations over the years. Improving patient quality of life is baked into the DNA of TCP Implant Marathon’s mission.

History and Global Expansion

From its inception in 2003 in Cuba, the TCP Implant Marathon quickly demonstrated the effectiveness of immersive surgical training. The first sessions in Santa Clara, Cuba allowed our team to refine the live-surgery course format and prove that dentists could dramatically enhance their skills in just a few days of intensive, mentored practice. The success of the Cuba program drew international attention, and demand from dentists around the world began to grow.

In 2007, TCP partnered with Implantology Courses Inc. – a U.S.-based dental continuing education company – to expand the reach of the Implant Marathon program. This collaboration enabled us to add new course locations and attract participants from North America, Europe, and Asia. By 2007, we launched additional TCP Implant Marathon sessions in the Dominican Republic and Cambodia, bringing our unique implant courses to new regions and solidifying our presence as a global leader in implant training. These international sites provided diverse patient cases and surgical environments, enriching the learning experience for our attendees.

Continued innovation and growth led to the opening of our newest location in São Paulo, Brazil in 2021. Brazil’s introduction as a host country expanded our network to South America, further establishing TCP Implant Marathon as a truly worldwide program. Today, we organize 8–12 Implant Marathon sessions annually across multiple countries, rotating among locations such as Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Cambodia, Brazil, and more. This global footprint not only makes our courses accessible to dentists from different continents, but also allows participants to experience implantology in various cultural and clinical contexts.

Throughout our history, one thing has remained constant: our dedication to delivering the best implant course possible in every session. Each course is intensively planned with patient cases, faculty assignments, and logistical details to ensure a smooth, safe, and highly educational experience. We continuously update our curriculum to keep pace with advancements in implant technology and techniques, so that attendees are learning the most up-to-date methods in implant dentistry.

A key strength of TCP Implant Marathon is our faculty – a team of highly experienced implant surgeons, periodontists, and educators who are passionate about teaching. Our course instructors are not only skilled practitioners with decades of combined experience, but also excellent mentors dedicated to helping colleagues grow. Many of our lead instructors have performed thousands of implant surgeries in their careers and have been teaching with TCP Implant Marathon for 10+ years.

We maintain a low instructor-to-student ratio (typically one instructor per two participants) during live surgical sessions to provide intensive supervision and coaching. This means every case you perform is directly overseen by an expert who can guide your technique in real time. Our mentors provide immediate feedback, share surgical tips, and ensure that each procedure is a learning opportunity. The supportive, collegial environment they create helps remove the intimidation factor of learning new surgical skills.

Beyond the surgical experts, our team includes dedicated program coordinators and support staff who handle course logistics, sterilization protocols, patient coordination, and all the behind-the-scenes elements that make our implant courses run safely and efficiently. Accreditation and Quality Assurance

TCP Implant Marathon, through Implantology Courses Inc., is proud to be recognized as an approved provider of dental continuing education. We are an AGD PACE (Program Approval for Continuing Education) certified provider, which means our course content and educational processes meet the high standards set by the Academy of General Dentistry. Each 5-day implant course awards 60 CE credit hours upon completion, allowing participants to fulfill a significant portion of their continuing education requirements while gaining practical skills. Our attendees receive official certificates verifying their hours and course completion, which are respected by licensing boards and professional organizations.

Quality is at the forefront of everything we do. Patient safety protocols are rigorously followed in all surgical sessions – from thorough screening of treatment cases to adhering to strict infection control and sterilization standards at our facilities. Our course content is peer-reviewed and our faculty are continually evaluating and refining the curriculum based on the latest research and clinical best practices in implantology.
