IMPLANT COURSES — COMPLETE HANDS-ON TRAINING FOR GENERAL DENTISTS

TCP Implant Marathon offers a tiered implant training curriculum designed to meet you at your current experience level and help you advance to the next. Our implant courses are divided into three levels, each building on the skills of the previous. Whether you are a beginner ready to place your first implant or an experienced dentist aiming to master advanced surgeries, we have a course for you.

Each course level is a 5-day intensive program combining didactic learning with extensive surgical practice on actual patients. All levels provide hands-on implant surgery experience under expert supervision, and each successful completion awards 60 hours of AGD PACE continuing education credit.

Many attendees find that these five days provide more surgical experience than several years of intermittent practice – truly accelerating your learning curve. Below is an overview of our course levels and what you can expect from each:

Level 1 – Fundamental Implant Placement

Level Guarantee: 30 Implants in 5 Days (per participant)

Level 1 is the foundational implant course ideal for general dentists and recent graduates who have little to no implant surgery experience. The focus of this course is to teach fundamental implantology principles and surgical techniques through direct, mentored practice. You will start by learning how to evaluate patients for implant treatment and develop basic surgical plans, then move quickly into performing implant placements yourself.

  • Hands-On Surgical Experience: Over the 5-day course, each participant will place at least 30 dental implants as the primary surgeon. Working in small teams (typically 2 doctors per 1 instructor), you will rotate between performing surgeries and assisting your partner. This ensures you also observe and assist with an additional 30+ implant cases, doubling your exposure.

  • Variety of Cases: Level 1 cases range from straightforward single-tooth implants to more complex scenarios, giving you a broad foundation. You will treat single missing tooth sites (both anterior and posterior), place multiple implants for overdenture patients or short-span bridges, and manage cases that involve extracting teeth and placing immediate implants into sockets when appropriate. You may also encounter moderately thin ridges that require minor bone contouring, and perform basic adjunct procedures like minor bone grafts or use of PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) to aid healing. All cases are pre-screened to be within a manageable complexity for newcomers.

  • Clinical Mentorship: Our instructors guide you through each step – from incisions and flap design to implant insertion and suturing. You’ll gain confidence in proper drilling sequences, implant torqueing, and achieving primary stability. Daily case discussions focus on treatment planning, recognizing anatomy on scans, and managing any complications that arise. By the end of Level 1, you should feel comfortable with the entire implant placement process for routine cases, and be prepared to start offering implants in your own practice.

Level 1 Admission: This course welcomes all licensed dentists, including those with no prior implant experience. It’s perfect for doctors who want a fast-track, immersive start in implant dentistry. (If you already have substantial experience, you may consider jumping to Level 2 or 3 with faculty approval.)

Level 2 – Sinus Lifts & Advanced Techniques

Level Guarantee: 7+ Advanced Cases in 5 Days

Level 2 is an intermediate implant course intended for dentists who have completed Level 1 or who already have placed a number of implants and are comfortable with routine cases. This course expands your skill set into advanced implant procedures – particularly maxillary sinus augmentation, advanced bone grafting, and management of more complex implant situations.

  • Advanced Surgical Focus: During Level 2, each participant performs a minimum of 7 advanced surgical cases under close supervision. The hallmark of this level is learning sinus lift surgery. You will practice lateral window sinus lift procedures (opening a window into the sinus wall to lift the membrane and place bone graft material), as well as internal (osteotome) sinus lift techniques for smaller augmentations. Many cases will involve simultaneously placing implants in the lifted sinus area, and using PRF to promote healing.

  • Complex Case Variety: In addition to sinus lifts, Level 2 cases typically include other challenges such as guided bone regeneration (GBR) around implants, management of deficient ridges (e.g., ridge splitting or expansion for thin bone), and perhaps an introduction to full-arch implant restorations (such as All-on-4/All-on-X hybrid denture cases). A sample Level 2 week might feature 5 lateral window sinus lift surgeries, plus 2–3 supplemental advanced cases like ridge splits or multi-implant rehabilitations. These scenarios push you to apply implant concepts in more anatomically complex situations, under the watchful eye of our expert faculty.

  • Elevating Skills & Judgment: The instructional component emphasizes surgical judgment and complication management. You’ll learn how to handle sinus membrane perforations, manage bleeding, and revise treatment plans on the fly if needed. Instructors will demonstrate the use of specialized tools like piezosurgery units for atraumatic bone cutting and sinus elevators. By the end of Level 2, you should feel confident tackling moderate to advanced implant cases and knowing when advanced referral or techniques are required.

Level 2 Admission: To enroll in Level 2, you must have considerable basic implant experience (at least 50 implants placed) or have completed our Level 1 course. Participants should be comfortable with implant fundamentals, as Level 2 dives straight into complex surgeries. Our team can advise you on your readiness – ensuring everyone in Level 2 has the appropriate background to benefit fully from these advanced cases.

Level 3 – Complex Cases & Grafting Mastery

Level Guarantee: Mastering Complex Implant & Grafting Procedures

Level 3 is our most advanced implant course, reserved primarily for alumni of Level 2 and other highly experienced implant dentists. This elite training module tackles the most complex scenarios in implantology – from extensive bone reconstruction to advanced soft tissue management – under the guidance of our top instructors and surgical specialists.

  • Highly Advanced Procedures: In Level 3, participants delve into procedures that go beyond standard implant placement. You will gain experience in block bone grafting (harvesting bone blocks from donor sites and securing them to build up deficient ridges), ridge onlay and contour grafting, and the use of titanium mesh or membranes to guide large bone regenerations. Difficult sinus lift cases (such as revisiting previously failed sinus grafts or handling borderline anatomic situations) are also performed. Additionally, techniques for soft tissue grafting around implants – like connective tissue grafts to enhance gum volume or coverage – may be covered to ensure comprehensive implant site development.

  • Tailored Case Selection: Level 3 operates almost like an oral surgery master class. Cases are selected and tailored to the specific learning goals of the small group of participants. For example, if a doctor wants more exposure to soft tissue grafts, we integrate that into the week’s cases. The instructor team, led by our course director (a veteran oral & maxillofacial surgeon), works closely with each participant as an assistant and coach during these demanding surgeries. Real-time feedback and troubleshooting are constant, given the complexity of the cases.

  • Refining Expertise: The goal of Level 3 is to refine your surgical expertise to the highest level. Faculty focus on nuanced skills – precise flap designs for large grafts, rigid fixation techniques for bone blocks, infection prevention in extensive surgeries, and step-by-step management of complications. By completion, you will have a deep understanding of advanced implant surgery protocols and the confidence to perform or at least plan complex implant reconstructions in your own practice.

Level 3 Admission: Due to the intensity of this course, enrollment is limited. Typically only dentists who have finished Level 2 (or have an equivalent advanced implant training background) are invited. You should have placed 200+ implants and have a minimum of 2 years of oral surgery experience before attempting Level 3. This ensures that all participants have the foundational skills needed to safely engage in high-level surgical procedures. Level 3 often includes past alumni returning for continued growth – it’s a tight-knit group focused on excellence in implantology.

Course Features & Included Benefits

No matter which level you attend, all our implant courses share key features that make the experience valuable and convenient for you:

  • Real Surgical Cases: You will treat actual patients under supervision – not plastic models or dummy simulations. This provides real-world experience and case diversity you simply cannot get in a classroom. Every implant you place during the course is in a live clinical context, giving you practical skills that directly translate to your office.

  • All Materials Provided: We supply all dental implants, surgical instruments, bone graft materials, membranes, and medications needed for each procedure. You don’t need to bring anything except your scrubs and enthusiasm. Our team prepares everything, so you can focus on learning.

  • Expert Mentorship: Throughout the course, you work side-by-side with internationally experienced instructors. Our faculty to participant ratio is kept low in every level, ensuring you receive personal guidance on every case. From planning to execution, a mentor is with you to answer questions and maximize your understanding.

  • State-of-the-Art Facilities: Courses are hosted in modern clinical venues (dental schools or private surgical centers) equipped with digital x-ray/CBCT imaging, fully stocked operatories, and hospital-grade sterilization. You’ll get comfortable with using advanced technology in implant dentistry as part of your training environment.

  • Continuing Education Credits: Upon completion of any level, you receive a Certificate of Completion and 60 CE hours accredited by the Academy of General Dentistry PACE program. This means you not only gain skills, but also meet continuing education requirements with an internationally recognized credential.

  • Alumni Network & Ongoing Support: Graduation from a TCP Implant Marathon course is just the beginning of your implant journey. All alumni gain access to our growing network of implant dentists around the world. You can consult with instructors post-course, discuss cases in our private online forum, and even come back for refresher sessions or advanced courses down the line. We are committed to your long-term success, offering mentorship well after the 5-day course is over.

  • Community Impact: Uniquely, our implant courses double as an outreach program. The patients you treat during training are often those who could not otherwise afford dental implants. This means your learning experience has an immediate positive effect – by the end of the week, you haven’t just gained skills, you’ve also given several patients the gift of a healthier smile and improved quality of life.
